Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) - Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) is a task-force started by the United States Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) in 1998. Its primary goals are to provide state and local law enforcement agencies the tools to prevent Internet crimes against children by encouraging multi-jurisdictional cooperation as well as educating both law enforcement agents and parents and teachers.

Internet Tax Freedom Act - The Internet Tax Freedom Act was authored by Representative Chris Cox and Senator Ron Wyden, and signed into law on October 21 1998 by President Bill Clinton. This law bars state and local governments from taxing Internet access service.
Internet censorship in mainland China - The National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China has passed an Internet censorship law in mainland China. In accordance with this law, several regulations were made by the PRC government, and a censorship system is implemented variously by provincial branches of state-owned ISPs, business companies, and organizations.
