Cultural behavior - Cultural behavior is behavior exhibited by human beings (and, some would argue, by other species as well, though to a much lesser degree) that is extrasomatic or extragenetic, in other words, learned.
Learned helplessness - Learned helplessness is a well-established principle in psychology, a description of the effect of inescapable punishment (such as electrical shock) on animal (and by extension, human) behavior. The theory was developed by Martin Seligman through experiments going back to 1965.
Nature (innate) - Nature is innate behavior (behavior not learned or influenced by the environment), character or essence, especially of a human.
Nurture - Nurture is usually defined as the process of caring for and teaching a child as the child grows. Often, it is used in debates as the opposite of "nature" (see nature versus nurture), whereby nurture means the process of replicating learned cultural information from one mind to another, and nature means the replication of genetic non-learned behavior.
